Scott And Carol Present: Adventure Mountain at Dollywood

On March 27th, 2010 Dollywood kicked off their 25th Anniversary in a big, big way... adding another mountain to the Smokies. The massive Adventure Mountain experience covers two-acres of mountainside outdoor terrain in Dollywood’s Wilderness Pass area.

Custom designed for Dollywood, the $5 million addition features four courses that range from easy to expert, testing adventurers’ strength and skill. Adventure Mountain offers more than 140 obstacles varying from a just a few inches above ground to more than 36 feet in the air.

Guests encounter rugged rope trails, net ladders, swinging bridges, a tire traverse, flying islands, and moving beams throughout the attraction, participants can engage in individual pursuits or family competitions. While rugged mountaineers can choose to tackle a variety of nature’s challenges to test their skill and agility.

The courses consist of: Geyser Gorge: The easiest of the three courses, punctuated by geysers that spray up from the rocks below. In fact the name for the course comes from those geysers.

Black Bear Cliff: This area’s most unique feature is a narrow ledge that guests conquer high above Wilderness Pass.

Rocky Top Trail: This is the highest of the three courses and offers a wonderful view of the park. Rocky Top Trail requires adventurers to cross a thin aerial rope bridge on the way to Adventure Mountain’s summit located 100 feet above Wilderness Pass and there is even a bell for guests ring to note their climbing accomplishment.

All the courses utilize Ropes Courses, Inc.’s patented Sky Trail® system throughout the experience. This system, one which revolutionized ropes courses worldwide, allows guests to be hooked into the safety system and traverse the course as at their own pace. It eliminates the “carbineer clipping” system often associated with ropes courses and opens the experience up to a wide range of guests. Ropes Courses, Inc.’s theme park projects are handled by Ride Entertainment Systems.

Young tenderfoots can explore Camp Teachittoomee, a scaled-down course for children. Located at the mountain’s base, this area offers a variety of ground-based experiences for younger visitors who can become “ranger recruits.”

Adventure Mountain and Camp Teachittoomee continue Dollywood's "family experience" as both attractions can be shared by adventurers of all ages.
